The Dallas Mavericks have the best young star in the league to build around in Luka Doncic. No matter how fans slice it, the 23-year-old is already a superstar and top player in the NBA. No other player under 25 can match his case, which Doncic further strengthened with the Mavericks' run to the conference finals last season.

Luka has led FanSided’s 25 under 25 for two straight years, and he often ranks as the best young star no matter how it is determined. Doncic is on pace to be an inner circle Hall of Famer, and he has not reached his peak yet.

Bleacher Report looked at the best young player to build around that dropped on Aug. 9. Luka leads the list, but was anyone even close?

The Mavericks superstar got every first place as Bleacher Report used players drafted from 2017 to 2021 to determine their young stars. Jayson Tatum, Ja Morant, Trae Young, and Zion Williamson rounded out the top five in B/R’s list, but none of those players are particularly close to passing Doncic. Number 77 is likely closer to the best player in the NBA than Tatum or Morant are to surpassing him as the best young star.

Where does Luka go from here? That is the question on most fans' minds. Can he be the best player in the NBA? Will he win MVP in 2023? Are there multiple MVP awards in his future? Does Doncic lead Dallas to a championship? Iztok Franko tackled these questions for D Magazine if fans are looking for more on what to expect from the 23-year-old going forward.

Luka Doncic is incredible and only getting better. Fans should expect him to be in the MVP race this season as he looks to lead the Dallas Mavericks to the NBA Finals. Can the 23-year-old win his first MVP award as Dallas contends for a title? Stay tuned to find out.
