5 Kyrie Irving sign-and-trades to boost the Dallas Mavericks' title odds
By Jack Simone
5. Washington Wizards
The Washington Wizards are one of the most confusing teams in the NBA. Despite not making it past the first round of the playoffs since the 2016-17 season, they continue to run back teams around Bradley Beal. But since they are determined to build a team around him, then there’s a chance they would be interested in adding Kyrie Irving to the roster in an attempt to contend.
Washington would create a core of Irving, Beal, and Kristaps Porzingis, with guys like Deni Avdija, Corey Kispert, and Monte Morris filling out the roster around them.
As for the Dallas Mavericks, this trade would focus on depth over star power, which is something that has worked for their teams in the past.
Kyle Kuzma isn’t an elite second option, but he’s a big wing who has been great on the glass and can give Dallas 20 points per game. Signing him to a $15-$20 million per season deal would be an interesting idea.
Adding Daniel Gafford to the mix would give Luka Doncic the best lob threat he’s ever played with, and at 24 years old, he still has plenty of room to grow in the NBA.
Lastly, Delon Wright would give the Mavericks a great two-way guard to shore up their play on the defensive end. Getting a second-round pick in the deal would also help replenish their draft capital a bit.
