The Dallas Mavericks continue to have one of their best offseasons in franchise history. The team upgraded their roster on both sides of the ball. Dallas added a variety of key players to help solidify their exposed weaknesses.

Dallas improved their defense with the additions of Quentin Grimes and Naji Marshall. Both players bring their own style to the team. Grimes is a hard-nosed defender who is savvy with his hands. Conversely, Marshall is a big wing who can make things difficult with his frame and toughness.

Offensively, the Mavericks added two excellent scorers: Klay Thompson and Spencer Dinwiddie. Thompson was a much-needed addition, as the team needed a third scoring option. Dinwiddie was brought in to help take the pressure off Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. He was the extra ballhandler the team was looking for.

Draymond Green says Klay Thompson wearing No. 31 jersey for Mavericks is 'disgusting'

However, off the court, Thompson's jersey number became the talk of the town. The newest Mav elected to wear the No. 31, as he referenced former players such as Jason Terry and Reggie Miller for the change. This was a switch from the number 11, his jersey number with the Golden State Warriors, as Irving already wears this number for the Mavs.

Not everyone is a fan of the number switch though. Thompson's former teammate Draymond Green expressed his opinion on the number. He spoke about the switch on the Club 520 Podcast.

"It's disgusting. Somebody said to me like, 'Yo 31 that's Reggie Miller's number' and I said 'Yeah but he's Klay Thompson.'"

Draymond Green

Green, Jeff Teague, and the rest of the podcast crew expressed their view about Thompson and Miller. Some stated that he was "out of pocket" for wearing 31, whereas others explained that he's better than Reggie.

Green though continued to ridicule the number 31, as he made comparisons to another former teammate.

"And then Festus Ezeli wore 31. And like, Fest just tried to go at on Instagram like 'what's wrong with 31?' I'm like you wore it."

Draymond Green

Green further explained that if Ezeli wore the number, then Klay probably shouldn't wear the number either. He also playfully stated that there is a gap between Thompson and Ezeli.

So, in simple terms he is not fan of Thompson's new number.

"What's wrong with 31? Look at Klay in 31. Get number one, get number 10. Kyrie got 11, alright cool I get that, no problem. 31?"

Draymond Green

In reality, yes there is a gap between Thompson and Ezeli. Thompson has more accolades, as he is a four-time NBA champion who played a major role in helping the Warriors get their rings.

Now, when it comes to Reggie Miller the line is close. Miller currently leads Thompson by 79 3-pointers. The newest Mav has the chance to break his record if things go according to plan.

So, what better to honor the Indiana Pacers legend, than by wearing his number. Thompson did say he was one of his idols, and this would be a cool way to pay his respects.

Plus, former Mav legend Jason Terry also rocked the number 31 during his time with Dallas. Remember, Terry won a championship wearing the No. 31. This is something Klay Thompson too hopes to accomplish, as he believes Dallas is the right team to help him get his fifth ring.

Green still has love for Thompson and everything he brought the Warriors, but he obviously isn't a fan of the new No. 31 he'll be rocking in Dallas.
