Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is a name that has been flying around the NBA world.

For all the wrong reasons.

The most recent buzz surrounding Morant is that he was caught flashing a handgun on Instagram Live for the second time in the past two and a half months. His off-court decisions haven't seemed to improve since his counseling session in Florida and eight-game suspension from the league back in March.

Ja Morant to Dallas and Kyrie Irving to Memphis? Potential trade brings Grizzlies star to Mavericks

He made the same mistake again, and the Grizzlies suspended him from all team activities indefinitely. The team already said that they won't bring back Dillon Brooks under "any circumstances" (subscription required), could Morant be out the door next?

The Grizzlies seem beyond fed up with Morant and could be looking to move on from him entirely if his behavior doesn't improve. If so, Dallas could be one of the first teams to call the Grizzlies.

If the Mavericks were to trade for Morant they would have a young, athletic guard to pair next to Luka Doncic in the backcourt for years to come. Dallas also may not be completely sold on Kyrie Irving's fit next to Doncic and be weary about giving him a massive contract this summer.

**Sign-and-trade: Kyrie Irving agrees to four years, $180 million and Dillon Brooks inks for three years, $35 million

This deal would send Morant, Ziaire Williams, and Dillon Brooks to Dallas for Kyrie Irving, Josh Green, Jaden Hardy, and a 2027 first-round pick. Dallas would land their co-star and wing defender of the future while Memphis secures a different superstar point guard to pair with Jaren Jackson Jr. and proven young talent.

This trade only happens if Memphis wants to move on from Morant, which is extremely unlikely. He is a young superstar in this league and the only thing holding him back right now is his off-court decisions. But if Memphis does want to move on, this trade helps both teams as they land an immediate replacement for Morant along with young guards.

Dallas needs a co-star (if they lose Irving), defense, and wing depth. If they make this trade they get all three of those things and bolster their roster while keeping their 2023 first-round pick.

Memphis lands a proven superstar with NBA Finals experience in Irving with two young players that would be in the rotation along with a first-round pick. Both teams get better in this trade.

Keep in mind that another aspect of this trade that would be a challenge is getting Irving to sign for that little of a contract. He will be looking for the max this summer, and Dallas is likely the only team that would give him that.

If Irving realizes that his market is smaller than expected, Dallas could get him to sign a smaller contract if Memphis is one of his desired destinations.

Stay tuned to see if Dallas sign-and-trades Irving and if Morant becomes available if his off-court issues persist. You won't want to miss any of the free agency news surrounding the Mavericks as they try to return to the playoffs.
