30 Greatest Dallas Mavericks in history, ranked by Player Efficiency Rating (PER)
By Noah Weber
2. Boban Marjanovic - 23.6
Another fan-favorite big man lands on this list after Brandan Wright was ranked No. 3, and Boban Marjanovic lands at No. 2 for the best PER in Dallas Mavericks history. Marjanovic played for the Mavs from 2019 until 2022, and he was loved by all of his teammates and fans for the whole time he was in Dallas.
Over these three seasons, Marjanovic averaged 5.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game while shooting 55.8 percent from the field. Maarjanovic didn't get a ton of playing time, but he typically impacted the game with his scoring around the bucket. His shot is impossible to block in the paint, and his massive frame often helped create second-chance opportunities for his teammates.
Some of Marjaovic's biggest moments as a Maverick came in the 2021 NBA Playoffs when he started in three games due to an injury to Kristaps Porzingis. Marjanovic was playing nearly 21 minutes per game in that series against the LA Clippers and averaged 11.8 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.
This was a much bigger role than he was used to, but he filled in nicely.
Marjanovic's time in Dallas came to an end in the summer of 2022 as the Mavs traded him to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Christian Wood. Marjanovic still loves Luka Doncic and the Mavs, and he even attended Game 6 of the first round of the 2024 NBA Playoffs when Dallas was playing the Clippers.
