Grading the trade for the Dallas Mavericks

If the Dallas Mavericks make this trade, they'd finally get rid of Tim Hardaway Jr. as they have been trying to trade him for multiple years now. A recent report confirmed that Dallas will search for a trade partner for Hardaway Jr. this summer, and they would be making this move to help them be able to re-sign Derrick Jones Jr. which remains a priority for them.

Although Dallas would shed Hardaway Jr.'s contract while acquiring an elite sharpshooter in Bogdan Bogdanovic, they'd be giving up way too much for Mavs fans to be comfortable with. Having to give up a first-round pick and Olivier-Maxence Prosper is not ideal in this situation, and having to attach a first-round pick to shed Hardaway Jr.'s contract seems unrealistic at this point.

Bogdanovic would be a huge upgrade from Hardaway Jr. as he averaged 16.9 points per game last season while shooting 37.4 percent from downtown, but salvaging their future in this move is not ideal.

There are risks in any trade, but this trade may not move the needle much for Dallas. They'd lose another one of their first-round picks and a young prospect for someone on a great contract, but this trade may not make the Mavs much better than what they were last season.

They desperately need a shooter, but they cough up a little too much in this deal for Mavs fans to be happy with it.

Dallas gets a C for this trade as they land an elite shooter in Bogdanovic, bit the price is a bit too high.

Potential starting lineup: Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, Derrick Jones Jr., P.J. Washington, and Daniel Gafford

This trade would be questionable for both sides involved, and only time will tell if Dallas finds a trade partner for Hardaway Jr.
