Grading the trade for the Dallas Mavericks

For starters, this is a trade Dallas may not agree to. The team could have difficulty giving up Jaden Hardy considering his potential and offensive firepower. The Mavs may be inclined to keep one of their young guards. Fans all know what Hardy is capable of, but A.J. Lawson has shown smaller flashes of his potential. He got to showcase his talents towards the end of the season.

However, in this situation its preassumed the trade were to happen.

If Dallas were to make this move it would give them one of the most dominant benches in the league. They would have a group consisting of Spencer Dinwiddie, Quentin Grimes, Naji Marshall, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Daniel Gafford. Their bench would be unstoppable, as it would have a mix of players who could play on both sides of the ball.

Finney-Smith is an all-around forward who is interchangeable between the three and four spots. He is a bold defender who isn't afraid to use his body in tough situations. Finney-Smith is also a good 3-point shooter, who isn't timid to take the open shot. He may thrive in a second stint with the team.

One issue though is that Finney-Smith has yet to replicate his numbers from three seasons ago. His shooting has been spotty, as he has struggled to convert over 35 percent of his long-range attempts.

However, this should not take away from the type of player he is. Finney-Smith would be the perfect backup to P.J. Washington. His presence would boost the team's big-man depth.

While this trade is unlikely, it gives the team a familiar face and someone who is easily movable.

The Mavs get a A- for this trade due in part their ability to improve their bench play. The only downside is they lose a couple of young players.

Potential starting lineup: Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, P.J. Washington, Dereck Lively II
