Grading the trade for the Brooklyn Nets

Assuming the Brooklyn Nets made the trade, it would allow them to shed the money owed to Dorian Finney-Smith. The former Mav is expected to earn $14,386,320 this season, while the team takes a $14,924,167 cap hit. In simple terms, they would be saving a ton of money as Finney-Smith's salary would be stretched across three players.

The Nets would get two young guards who could develop within the organization. A.J. Lawson and Jaden Hardy are promising players who can excel given the proper minutes. Hardy is a quick guard who can score in a variety of ways. His quickness is something defenders have trouble with.

Lawson has similar abilities to Hardy. He can attack the basket or pull up for a mid-range shot. This summer he balled out in Las Vegas. He averaged 18.4 points per game while shooting 47 percent. Lawson also tallied 1.2 steals per game. Last season, he averaged 20.7 points per game in the G League and tallied seven rebounds per game. His game continues to grow and evolve each year.

Kleber too could succeed in a similar situation. The Mavs forward has struggled to replicate his game from two seasons ago. Injuries and shooting struggles have taken a toll on him. A change of scenery could be the perfect solution.

While his game took a hit, it doesn't help Kleber's case that P.J. Washington took over for Dallas. This too has played a role in Kleber finding valuable minutes at both the four and the five.

If Kleber were to go to Brooklyn he would bring a ton of experience, as he could be a valuable mentor for the young guys. Kleber has shown he can be a tough guy who isn't afraid to take tough shots in crunch time when he's open. He is a team player and someone who has taken a series of game-winning shots.

The Nets get a mix of both young and experienced in the trade. They would get a B- for the trade, as they can shed Finney-Smith's contract. The main issue is the assets acquired are projects. They are not star players who could contribute on the spot. Hardy and Kleber could become valuable bench players.

Potential starting lineup: Dennis Schroder, Cam Thomas, Bojan Bogdanovic, Cameron Johnson, Nic Claxton

Brooklyn Nets correction. B- . Gain two rising youngsters in A.J. Lawson and Jaden Hardy who could become role players. Gain a veteran leader in Maxi Kleber . Brooklyn Nets
