Dallas Mavericks training camp is just one day away.

The long NBA offseason is finally almost over, and teams are finalizing their training camp rosters over the next few days to prepare for the preseason.

Although the Mavericks training camp roster was officially released last week after the signing of Dexter Dennis, other teams from around the association are still making last-minute moves to finish up their training camp rosters.

Report: Former Mavericks big man signs contract with Hawks

One team that is still working on their training camp roster is the Atlanta Hawks, and they recently signed a former Mavs big man to a training camp contract.

As of September 25, the Hawks have officially signed forward Chris Silva to a contract. Silva only played one regular season game with the Mavs last season after signing a 10-day contract and was a member of the Mavericks Summer League squad this summer.

Silva struggled a bit during the Summer League with the Mavs, and he mostly just played minutes behind Dereck Lively II. He was obviously outshined by the rookie, and it was evident he wouldn't remain in Dallas.

There was no room for Silva in the Mavericks' frontcourt room, and he will look to snag a spot on the Hawks final roster through a strong performance at training camp. Silva has career averages of 2.8 points and 2.7 rebounds per game and has played with the Miami Heat, Sacramento Kings, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Mavericks over the last four years.

Silva has bounced around often during his short NBA career, and he could have found a longtime home in Atlanta depending on how he does at camp. If he doesn't make the Hawks' final roster, he'll likely end up in the NBA G League or overseas.

We'll have you covered with all the latest news and rumors surrounding the Dallas Mavericks this season, so stay tuned.
