One thing that many NBA fans forget is that the two greatest Dallas Mavericks players of all time actually got to play a season together.

Luka Doncic's rookie year was also Dirk Nowitzki's final year in the NBA, and the two formed a special bond that still exists today. Doncic and Nowitzki are seemingly always joking around when they are together, and Nowitzki's passing of the baton to Doncic has worked out thus far.

Doncic has developed into one of the best players in the NBA, and he just made the NBA Finals for the first time last season. Dallas was just short of a little firepower as the Boston Celtics pummeled them in five games, and some elite firepower could be coming to the Mavs one day as Nowitzki teased one of the greatest players in the NBA coming to Dallas to team up with Doncic.

Nowitzki wants Doncic and Jokic to join forces on Mavericks

It's clear that Doncic and Nikola Jokic are great friends, and Nowitzki teased this duo teaming up on the Mavs one day.

Nowitzki said he would want them to team up in Dallas if they were to ever play on the same team, but he is "not sure if that will ever happen." He continued to say that he hopes Doncic is a Maverick for life and later compliments Jokic's game.

Nowitzki knows that them teaming up seems like a long shot at this juncture, but Doncic and Jokic's friendship can't be overlooked. They are always seen spending time together at NBA All-Star Weekend and chopping it up any time Dallas plays the Denver Nuggets, and them teaming up would form the best duo the NBA has ever seen.

Two of the smartest players in the league would be teammates, and they'd be unstoppable. Both players are selfless and excellent playmakers, and putting the right team around them could lead to multiple NBA Championships.

Jokic already knows what it takes to win the NBA Finals as he is a one-time NBA Champion, and he also has three MVPs to his name. He continues to be one of the most dominant bigs in the NBA, and the way he impacts the game is unbelievable to watch.

Jokic's expertise on the offensive end and his feel for the game are superb, and him paired next to Doncic would give the rest of the NBA nightmares for years to come. This wouldn't be easy to pull off, but if this move were to ever happen, the rest of the NBA would be left in shambles.

Jokic has already said that if he and Doncic were going to team up, he'd want it to be on the Nuggets, and Doncic hasn't shown any signs of him wanting to play elsewhere anytime soon. Doncic has made it clear that he'd love to play with Jokic one day, and if the stars align, maybe this duo will get to sport the same jersey before their careers are over.
