Dallas Mavericks GOAT Dirk Nowitzki made his broadcast debut last season during the team’s COVID outbreak. Derek Harper missed the broadcast, so the Tall Baller from the G stepped up and knocked the assignment out of the park. Dirk was warm and funny while sharing his vast knowledge of the game.
Nowitzki works for the team as a special advisor to owner Mark Cuban, but he has dabbled in multiple different avenues since retiring in 2019. He has done tons of charity works along with broadcast and working an embassador for both the NBA and FIBA. Nowitzki will explore a different avenue as part of the Dec. 17 broadcast of the Mavericks game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The NBA announced that Dirk will join former teammates Devin Harris and J.J. Barea for an alternative stream of Saturday's game as part of NBA Hoopervision. Get more details below.
Dirk Nowitzki to be part of special broadcast for Dallas Mavericks at Cavaliers on Dec. 17
Barea and Harris are hosting the game with Dirk joining as a special guest. There figures to be plenty of talk about their playing days, including the Mavericks' 2011 championship run, and discussion on Dirk’s upcoming statue unveiling. The three former players figure to provide plenty of insight and analysis during the special broadcast.
Mavericks fans can still watch Mark Followill and Derek Harper call the game for Bally Sports Southwest. The NBA Hoopervision stream will be part of NBA League Pass and local blackout restrictions will apply. MFFLs outside of Dallas can listen to Dirk on the stream with Barea and Harris in what figures to be an exciting and entertaining broadcast.
The Dallas Mavericks have one of the best broadcast duos in the league, but it is awesome to see Dirk Nowitzki, J.J. Barea, and Devin Harris doing an alternate stream. Check out both broadcasts on Saturday if you can before deciding which one to listen to for the duration of the game. Do not miss it.
