The Dallas Mavericks dismantled the Cleveland Cavaliers in the third quarter to pick up their third straight win and to sweep a back-to-back set. Luka Doncic and company are playing their best basketball of the season and look like a title contender heading into the postseason.

The Mavs moved up to third in the Western Conference with Wednesday’s win and a loss by the Warriors to the Phoenix Suns. Golden State and Dallas are both 48-29 with five games left in the regular season, but the Mavericks hold the tiebreaker by winning three of the four meetings between the two teams this season. Dallas is now the favorite to finish third as the Warriors have lost four straight.

Dirk Nowitzki knows a lot about winning basketball games, and he could not hide his excitement about the current Mavs anymore. Here is a look at the GOAT’s Tweet, and why fans should be excited heading into the 2022 playoffs.

Dirk Nowitzki is loving watching the Dallas Mavericks right now

Dirk is and always will be rooting for the Mavs. He led them to a championship in 2011 and spent his entire 21-year career in Dallas. Nowitzki is now back with the team as a special advisor to owner Mark Cuban and his jersey hangs in the rafters. He is not exactly an unbiased opinion, but Dirty is enjoying the basketball in Dallas right now.

The win vaulted the Mavericks into a tie for the fifth-best record in the league this season, and they have been the third-best since the start of 2022. Discount them if you wish, but Dallas is a true title contender heading into the playoffs. They should be favored to win in the first round for the first time since bringing home the title in 2011.

The Mavs are dangerous and only getting better. Luka Doncic is a top five player in the league, and they just keeps winning games. If that is not enough to get supporters excited, I don't know what will do the trick.

Fans can be sure Dirk Nowitzki will be watching every game down the stretch as the Dallas Mavericks look to hold on to fourth in the Western Conference, and you should be too. Check back to The Smoking Cuban for all the latest, including news, opinions, analysis, and rumors on the Mavs.
