Why would Raptors trade OG Anunoby to the Dallas Mavericks?

Every team in the league wants Anunoby, so the price to acquire him is likely goes through the roof. ESPN’s Zach Lowe said back in December that the Raptors would likely get a similar package to what Utah received for Donovan Mitchell, which was three players, three first-round picks, and two first-round picks swaps. Anunoby did zero to diminish his value, but Toronto likely cannot get quite that much.

Teams will be offering two picks plus role players to match salaries. The swaps or a third first-rounder could be the tipping point that gets the trade done. Toronto gets an improving wing in Josh Green and a strong floor spacer in Tim Hardaway Jr. as part of this trade. They also receive the tenth pick, which is a premium asset, but are two first-round picks enough?

Toronto likely gets a better offer if they commit to trading OG Anunboy, which means the only way this trade happens is if the Raptors fall in love with a prospect that is available at pick ten. Consider that possible, but not likely.

Would the Dallas Mavericks make this trade? It seems like a no-brainer, but it may not be that simple.
