The Dallas Mavericks fell flat in the Valley of the Sun as the Phoenix Suns dominated Game 5 on their way to a 110-80 win. Little went right for Dallas as they had 16 turnovers and just nine assists in the loss that put the Suns up 3-2 as the series shifts back to Texas.

The winner of Game 5 when things are tied at two games apiece takes the series about 82 percent of the time in NBA history, so the deck is stacked against superstar Luka Doncic and the Mavs. To make matters worse, the Suns had the best regular-season record in the league and are the more talented team.

Dallas has to win two straight games to advance to the Western Conference Finals, which will be no easy task. Few picked the Mavericks coming into this series, but they have proven that they can top the Suns.

How the Dallas Mavericks can still defeat the Phoenix Suns in the West semis

The Mavs offense and shooting did not travel to Phoenix for Game 5. Dallas came out strong before scoring just 54 points over the final 36 minutes. The Mavericks had the momentum coming in, but they handed it right back to the Suns on Tuesday night.

Luka and Jalen Brunson had 49 of the Mavs' 80 points in Game 5 with Davis Bertans being the only other Maverick in double-figures. Dallas needs contributions from everyone to knock off the top-seeded Suns, and they did not get them in Game 5.

Things look bleak, but the Dallas Mavericks can still win this series over the Phoenix Suns, and here is a look at how.
