2. Obi Toppin
Obi Toppin has been in trade rumors as of late, and while he may not be the perfect option for the Dallas Mavericks, he’s certainly one of the most intriguing.
Recent reports have indicated that Toppin is frustrated with his role on the New York Knicks, with a story surfacing that he and head coach Tom Thibodeau got into a verbal altercation following their elimination from the playoffs this past year.
Toppin, who is still only 25 years old and will entering the final year of his rookie contract, showed some serious improvements this past season, especially from behind the three-point line, which could make him an intriguing target for the Mavericks.
If he can continue to improve on defense and nail his three-point shots, he would be a solid starting option for Dallas, as his high-flying, absurd athleticism would make him an amazing lob threat on cuts for Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving to work with.
Meanwhile, the Knicks would get back a rotation piece they are very familiar with, as Reggie Bullock had arguably his best season in a New York uniform.
He hits his threes and plays solid defense, and the fact that he’s an experienced veteran would likely make him a favorite in Thibodeau’s rotation as the Knicks look to capitalize on their success from this past year.
Add in the second-round pick, and this could be a deal the Knicks consider if they don’t want to run things back with Toppin.
