The Dallas Mavericks started their offseason with a solid set of moves at the 2023 NBA Draft, addressing some of their needs and adding some nice talent to the roster.

Entering the night, they held the 10th pick, but they quickly flipped it for the 12th pick, dumping Davis Bertans’ contract to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the process.

Dallas picked up Duke center Dereck Lively II with the 12th pick, who they were widely expected to pick with the 10th pick anyways. Then, they traded into the first round, snagging Olivier-Maxence Prosper and adding Richaun Holmes to the roster, too.

Now, their starting lineup is rounding into form, with Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving (if re-signed), Josh Green, and one of Holmes, Lively, or Maxi Kleber at the center position.

But who is going to take over as the team’s starting power forward?

There’s a chance that Kleber slides down into the four, allowing the Mavericks to roll out Doncic, Irving, Green, Kleber, and Holmes, but Dallas should aim to add a bit more versatility at the position.

Kleber is a fine player, and he’s able to keep up on the perimeter a little bit, but adding a guy who’s more well-equipped to play the four could be a better option.

The Mavericks still have some avenues to add a starting-caliber power forward via trade. With Tim Hardaway Jr.’s contract, Jaden Hardy, and some first-round picks available to them, they should be able to find a deal.

With all that in mind, here are five trades the Mavericks could make to land a starting power forward.
