5 trades Mavericks must make to get rid of JaVale McGee
By Noah Weber
1. Mavs trade for star center from the Cleveland Cavaliers
The Dallas Mavericks need to be aggressive in building their roster around Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, and this trade gives them the perfect fit at center.
This trade may not be enough to pry him away from the Cavs, but they could try to get a third team involved to help.
In this trade, the Dallas Mavericks give up two assets that they don't seem to want to give up in Josh Green and the 2027 first-round pick, but it could end up being worth it as they land a top center in the NBA in Jarrett Allen.
Allen averaged 14.3 points, 9.8 rebounds, 0.8 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game. He is the exact type of big that would succeed in Dallas' system, and the Mavs should consider bringing him in. Allen catches lobs, blocks shots, and is an elite athlete. He is also only 25 years old.
Along with Allen, the Mavs get a wing on an expiring contract in Isaac Okoro. He averaged 6.4 points per game last season and shot 36.3 percent from three. These stats obviously aren't great, but his skill as a defender is intriguing.
Having the Cavs accept this trade would be a dream come true, and turning this trade into a three-team trade is ideal to make it more realistic and compensate the Cavs more.
Stay tuned to see if the Mavs end up trading or waiving JaVale McGee.
