The Dallas Mavericks fired the first punch in Game 4 with a 37-point first quarter, and they never looked back in a 111-101 win over the Phoenix Suns. Superstar Luka Doncic had another double-double for Dallas, but it was Dorian Finney-Smith that stole the headlines as they evened the series against the top-seeded Suns.

The Mavs did it on both ends of the floor on Sunday afternoon as they held the Suns to just 101 points. Dallas used their math edge in Game 4. They limited the Suns to 84 shots, took 44 3-pointers attempts, and got Phoenix in foul trouble. The recipe needed stout defense, but it worked for the second straight game.

The series shifts back to Phoenix on Tuesday night, but what can fans take away from Game 4 that will matter moving forward in the series?

One of the biggest stories of the game was foul trouble. Chris Paul fouled out with 8:48 left in the fourth quarter, and he was limited to just 23 minutes in Game 4. CP3 barely played in the second half, and the Suns scored just 45 points in the final 24 minutes. Jae Crowder and Mikal Bridges also dealt with foul issues for Phoenix in Game 4.

Luka Doncic did not have his best game on Sunday afternoon, but the Dallas Mavericks won anyways. Here are three takeaways from the Mother’s Day contest that squared the series at two games apiece.
