3 Studs, 2 duds in Mavericks’ home loss against hot Clippers
In a back-and-forth game against the LA Clippers, the Dallas Mavericks fell short at home, losing their second consecutive game by a score of 120-111.
With a very cold start from Luka Doncic in the first half, the Mavericks trailed for most of the game by double-digits. It wasn’t until the fourth quarter where the Mavs went on a crazy run to regain the lead, but would end up losing momentum after an Amir Coffey corner 3-pointer.
3 Studs, 2 duds in Mavericks’ home loss against hot Clippers
With the loss, the Mavericks move to the sixth seed in the Western Conference with a record of 16-11.
Here are your three studs and two duds from the game.
5. Stud - Dante Exum
In the month of December, Dante Exum has been perfect for this Mavericks squad. Exum has averaged 16.1 points, 4.1 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game while shooting 53.3 percent from behind the arc.
Exum continued to showcase his talents on both sides of the floor for the Mavericks which allowed them to make a short comeback in the fourth quarter. With multiple steals leading to fast break layups, Exum made a clear case last night that he will be a big piece for this team for years to come.
At the beginning of the season, Mavs fans were very skeptical on what role Exum would have, but it’s fairly obvious now that when Kyrie Irving returns to the lineup, Exum will have solidified himself as the backup point guard.
The Mavericks thrive best when running a fast-paced offense, and Exum is one of the main reasons why.
Expect Exum to play heavy minutes against the Houston Rockets tomorrow night, as there has been no update on Irving’s injury.
