Dallas Mavericks rumors: LeBron James interested in playing with Luka Doncic
By Tyler Watts
The Dallas Mavericks have won 50 games and are on pace to secure homecourt in the first round of the playoffs for the first time with superstar Luka Doncic leading the way. Head coach Jason Kidd has the team committed to playing defense, and they are looking to win their first playoff series since 2011.
Arguably the most disappointing team of the season was LeBron James and the Lakers. They entered with championship aspirations but failed to even qualify for the play-in tournament. Can they figure out how to make it work with James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook? Where does LA make changes this offseason?
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst was on Get Up on April 7 where he discussed LeBron’s interest in playing with Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic. Here is a closer look at Windhorst’s comments.
Dallas Mavericks rumors: LeBron James interested in playing with Luka Doncic
On HBO’s The Shop, LeBron mentioned Stephen Curry as the player he wanted to play with before mentioning Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic.
Windhorst, who has covered LeBron for more than a decade, believes that Luka is the superstar he could team with “down the road”. Nobody believes he is leaving the Lakers this offseason, but he could eventually decide to partner with Doncic to try to win a fifth championship. Fans can hear Windhorst’s comments below.
It is something for fans to store in their memory bank. LeBron James has changed teams four times in his career, and he can play for the organization of his choosing. He has drafted Luka Doncic in three straight All-Star drafts, and King James wanted the Mavericks superstar to be the first to join his shoe brand. There is clearly an affinity between the two, which could turn into something more down the road.
The Dallas Mavericks rumors will be spreading like wildfire this offseason as the organization looks to vault into serious title contention, so stay tuned to The Smoking Cuban for all the latest.
