Rumors: Cavaliers want Dallas Mavericks wing Tim Hardaway Jr.
By Tyler Watts
The Dallas Mavericks are exploring the trade market ahead of the Feb. 9 deadline. They want to improve their talent around superstar Luka Doncic as the front office attempts to vault them into a true title contender. Dallas is hesitant to give up a first-round pick unless it is for a second star to pair with Doncic. So what can the Mavs do before the deadline?
The front office has a massive decision on what to do with Christian Wood. He is in the final year of his contract but does the team extend him or look to trade him before the deadline. What they do with C-Wood could determine where Dallas goes next, but Tim Hardaway Jr. is another Maverick to watch.
Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com made it clear on the Please Don’t Aggregate This podcast that the Cavaliers are interested in THJ, and he is right up there with Bojan Bogdanovic on the team’s wish list.
Rumors: Cavaliers want Dallas Mavericks wing Tim Hardaway Jr.
Fedor does a fantastic job of laying out the Cavaliers' situation on the podcast. Cleveland needs a wing, but they do not have a first-round pick to trade after using a stockpile to acquire Donovan Mitchell in the offseason. The Cavs are shopping Caris LeVert, Cedi Osman, and second-round picks to improve their wing situation.
Fischer liked a LeVert for Hardaway Jr. swap, but he noted that the Mavericks would have to give up something else to make the deal work. LeVert offers more playmaking ability and a similar scoring punch, despite being a lesser shooter. Could the two sides work something out that makes sense for both?
The Cleveland Cavaliers are eyeing Tim Hardaway Jr., and the Dallas Mavericks have previously had interest in Caris LeVert. The deal seems to make sense for both sides, but will they work it out?
