1 Question for every Dallas Mavericks player as countdown to NBA Playoffs begins
By Noah Weber
6. Kyrie Irving
Will Kyrie Irving make it to the conference finals for the first time since 2017?
Ever since Kyrie Irving left the Cleveland Cavaliers after the 2016-17 season, he has not played in a conference finals game. Could this season be the year that he ends this streak?
This season for Dallas, Irving is averaging 25.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 49 percent from the field and 40.5 percent from downtown. He is having a great season on both ends of the floor, and it looks like the Mavs could make a deep playoff run if Irving and Luka Doncic are at their best.
Irving has been in the national spotlight over the last week due to his game-winning shot against the Denver Nuggets a week from yesterday, and he is continuously showing that he is one of the most skilled players of all time.
In order for the Mavs to shock the world and reach the NBA Finals, they need Irving to keep being a great co-star to Doncic. Everyone knows that Doncic is going to do his thing almost every game, and having someone like Irving who can uplift the team when Doncic is having an off game is vital.
Mavs fans have no reason to not believe that Irving will be reliable in the playoffs, and seeing Irving suit up for Dallas in a playoff game is something fans can't wait to see.
