2 pros, 3 cons of potential Mavericks trade for Clint Capela
By Jack Simone
2. Pro - Potential asking price
Adding Clint Capela as the team’s starting center is a solid idea, but when you consider the potential asking price that has been floated in some mock trades, it becomes a very intriguing concept.
The Mavericks don’t have a ton of trade assets to work with outside of Josh Green and Jaden Hardy, and neither of those players is worth giving up for Capela.
However, in most (if not all) of the mock trades that have been floated around, the Mavericks would be giving up assets that they have already expressed an interest in ditching this summer.
Most of the mock trades for Capela have the Mavericks shipping off Tim Hardaway Jr., JaVale McGee, and draft capital, and neither of the two players Dallas would be giving up is slated to play a huge role for the team next year.
Hardaway Jr. would be the biggest loss of the two, but the Mavericks signed Seth Curry this summer, and Jaden Hardy and Josh Green are going to take on larger roles.
For that price, adding another useful player to the mix would be a major win for the Mavericks, especially considering they don’t have a perfect center option on the roster just yet.
