3. Spencer Dinwiddie

Spencer Dinwiddie's time in the league after being traded away by the Mavericks during the 2023 trade deadline can be summarized as disappointing. He's spent his time with the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers where he was expected to be one of the team's leading scorers off the bench. Not only would he end up disappointing Lakers fans during the playoffs, but the question has arisen around Dinwiddie on whether or not he is fit to contribute to a contending team.

Since signing with the Mavericks, Dinwiddie's role on a championship-contending team has been put into question.

It's no secret the Mavericks lacked playmaking off the bench during the 2024 playoffs and this was the main reason why Dinwiddie was a marquee signing for Dallas during this crucial offseason.

While Dinwiddie on paper is a great signing for Dallas, his past year and a half in the league has proven to be full of inconsistency on the offensive end of the floor. Last season with the Lakers, Dinwiddie shot a disappointing 41 percent from the field.

Unfortunately for Dinwiddie, the Lakers' offensive system didn't favor his play style. In Dallas, Dinwiddie will be asked to score and playmake off the bench in a system that will favor his offensive style.

Although Dinwiddie joins an offensive system that favors his iso playstyle, Dinwiddie's efficiency will still be put into question. In his short time with the Mavericks, Dinwiddie thrived as a tertiary playmaker and a guy who could score in bunches. While he will be asked to do the same in his second stint with Dallas, shooting efficiency will be a point of emphasis for Dinwiddie throughout the season.

Dinwiddie's shooting numbers could be the difference in the Mavericks winning 45 regular season games or hoisting the Larry O'Brien Trophy.
