The Dallas Mavericks are sitting at 11-8 after Saturday night's loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder, and there is plenty to be excited about if you're a Mavs fan even after the two losses over the weekend.

They are playing much better than initially expected, and Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving are finally getting the national recognition they deserve.

With Dallas' success, they have had a handful of players have their stock rise over the first month of the season, but they've also had a few players that haven't got to show off their skills much yet.

Here are four players who are diamonds in the rough for Dallas but haven't played much yet.

4. A.J. Lawson

This is A.J. Lawson's second year in the NBA, and even though he has only played in two games for Dallas, he has put on a show for the Texas Legends in the G League.

Lawson is averaging 20.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 53 percent from the field. He is playing some of the best basketball of his career, and his knack for scoring is evident every time he suits up for the Legends.

Lawson may not be the defensive star that Dallas needs, but he hustles on the glass and is an excellent scorer. He also has the ability to guard one through three, but his smaller frame prevents him from sizing up on defense.

Lawson's offense is good enough to intrigue the Mavericks to play him, but his defense needs to continue to improve for him to be a nightly rotation piece in Dallas. He plays hard and guards well on smaller players, but would likely struggle with bigger wings at the NBA level.

Lawson played well in 19 minutes against the Thunder as he finished with 12 points. His hustle and shooting could continue to earn him minutes, but Dallas was extremely shorthanded on Saturday night, so take his big role from this game with a grain of salt.
