Report: Nike officially signs two Dallas Mavericks rookies to shoe deals
By Noah Weber
The Dallas Mavericks' season begins in less than 36 hours, and the seemingly endless NBA offseason will soon come to an end.
The Mavericks' first game of the season is against Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs, and they've already been preparing to face the young Wembanyama.
Wembanyama is a freak of nature, standing at 7-foot-4 with a massive 8-foot wingspan, so Dallas is having their guards prepare to face him by making them finish around the basket with one of their coaches defending them with long pads attached to his arms.

Despite all of the hype around the league being about Wembanyama, the Mavericks have two rookies who are exciting fans too. Dereck Lively II and Olivier-Maxence Prosper are set to make their debuts on Wednesday as well, and both players should make a big impact for Dallas.
Lively II and Prosper were both drafted in the first round of this year's draft, and Lively II could be the opening night starter while Prosper is going to come off the bench. Both players could end up being crucial pieces for Dallas one day, and they just signed a contract that every player looks forward to signing as they enter the NBA.
According to a report by Nick DePaula, Nike signed Lively II and Prosper to sneaker deals. Nike also reportedly signed 11 other rookies, including Wembanyama, Brandon Miller, Anthony Black, and both Thompson brothers.
This was likely an exciting moment for both rookies, as they seem to always be in fancy sneakers off the court, and they are both officially Nike athletes.
Nike is the most popular brand when it comes to shoes for NBA players, and roughly two out of three NBA players wore Nike shoes last season. That is straight domination from Nike's end, and Prosper and Lively II are now part of the Nike Basketball family.
We'll have you covered with all the latest on Dereck Lively II, Olivier-Maxence Prosper, and the Dallas Mavericks this season, so stay tuned.
