Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic added to his legendary status on May 4 by agreeing to pay for the funerals and grief counseling for those involved in a mass shooting at a Belgrade elementary school. Eight children and a school security guard were killed in the incident.

Luka’s father and grandmother are from Serbia along with other family members, so he has deep ties to the region. Serbia was hopeful that he could convince him to play for their national team, but Doncic wanted to lead Slovenia where he was born.

Luka is using his foundation to help those involved in this unspeakable tragedy, and he will continue to make a difference moving forward. Doncic shared a message about the Belgrade shooting on social media.
