Dallas Mavericks guard Kemba Walker exploded for 32 points in a narrow loss to the Cavaliers without Luka Doncic and Spencer Dinwiddie in the lineup. It was a vintage performance from the four-time All-Star that likely earned him more playing time moving forward.

The Mavs are searching for a third ball-handler and playmaker, and Walker looks capable of filling that role, even if he cannot do it every night. Kemba gave the offense a spark on Saturday night in an impressive performance from a player that unsigned until the end of November.

After the game, Walker had this to say about playing with Luka Doncic.

Fans have not seen too much of the two guards playing together, but there would be more moving forward.

More Mavericks news

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has never been afraid to share his idea, and he dropped a bombshell on Dec. 15. He has talked in the past about the Mavs building a new arena, but his latest vision has the team’s new home as the center of a Las Vegas style casino and resort (subscription required). There is one major hold-up, though.

Gambling is still illegal in Texas, so Cuban is pushing for legalization in 2023, so he can make his plan come to fruition. The state has tried on multiple occasions to legalize gambling, but it has not worked out thus far.

This is not Cuban’s first plan for a new arena. He previously had the vision to build a Madison Square Garden-like arena. The only sure thing is that Cuban is eager to build a fresh home for the Mavericks.

NBA news

The biggest NBA news of the weekend was Anthony Davis injuring his foot, which will cost him at least one month of action. The star big man was playing arguably the best basketball of his career before the injury. He will miss the Christmas Day showdown against the Mavericks, and the injury likely sinks the Lakers' chances of reaching the playoffs this year.

In other news, former Maverick Amar’e Stoudemire was arrested on Sunday on a battery charge against his daughter.

The Dallas Mavericks are back in action on Monday in a must-see game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Will Luka Doncic shine or does Anthony Edwards steal the show? Tune in to find out, and enjoy the game.
