The Dallas Mavericks have been part of all the headlines after pulling off a blockbuster trade for Kyrie Irving. It was a shocking move that lands a second star in Dallas to play next to Luka Doncic. The franchise was desperate to add more talent, and Kyrie was the best player available at the price they paid.

There are a ton of questions after the trade, including is the team’s defense good enough after trading away Dorian Finney-Smith and Spencer Dinwiddie for Kyrie. Dallas has two of the ten All-Star starters this year, but meshing them into a title contender will be easier said than done for the Mavs.

Head coach Jason Kidd had this to say about Kyrie during his pregame press conference on Feb. 6.

"He’s won where he has gone. We feel that his talent and his abilities to make us better are something that we needed. We feel getting him is going to help put us in a position to win a championship."

Kidd talked about his relationship with Kyrie, how he is looking forward to the opportunity of coaching him in Dallas, and that Irving is a winner. The Hall of Famer was clearly on board with the trade, and he is excited about the team moving forward.
