Over the past few weeks, we've seen improved play from Mavericks guard Josh Green. Inserted by the coaching staff, Green reclaimed a starting position for a handful of games.
Green recently inked in a $41 million contract extension, indicating he'd be a contributing piece to the team for the foreseeable future. Josh started the year performing below expectations, and fans were disappointed.
Just as Green begins to find his rhythm on the court, NBA Insider Shams Charania released Green would be sidelined for a few weeks due to an elbow injury.
NBA Insider reveals heartbreaking injury news for Mavericks guard Josh Green
Looking back at the Mavericks' previous season, we can see a similar, if not the same, injury to Josh's elbow. Which caused him to miss extensive time, so it'll be interesting to see how much time he'll miss.
At the moment, Green is unfortunately not the only one in the training room. With Maxi Kleber's long recovery and the inconsistencies in Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving's injuries, it puts a lot of pressure on this coaching staff and the guys who are healthy to gut out some important wins.
In the absence of Green, the Mavericks will likely look heavily to the newly acquired Derrick Jones Jr., A.J. Lawson, and O-Max Prosper, ultimately giving him the minutes and hopefully the confidence to break out like fellow rookie Derek Lively II.
It'll be interesting to see if the Mavericks can stay afloat in the competitive Western Conference even with a beat-up team across the board. Fans also wish and hope for a speedy recovery for Josh Green, looking forward to his return.
