Will Dallas Mavericks move up in the 2023 NBA Draft Lottery?

They have never done it, but their history has no impact on what actually happens on May 16. The NBA is not altering the lottery combinations because Dallas has never moved up or lessening them in hopes they lose their pick. The odds are set well before the league even knows what team will hold that selection.

The Mavericks have a 3.0 percent chance to land the number one overall pick and a 13.9 percent shot to move into the top four. Dallas keeps their selection in 79.8 percent of the scenarios, and they select tenth in 65.9 percent. The Mavs can move up into the top four, pick tenth, or lose their selection in the 2023 NBA Draft Lottery.

There will only be one drawing, and anything can happen. In 2019, New Orleans had just a six percent chance of getting the number one overall pick when they won the lottery and the right to draft Zion Williamson. Could this be the year that the Mavs finally move up? Getting Victor Wembanyama would instantly make them must-see television and put them back into contention.
