The Dallas Mavericks are focusing on their next matchup at home against the Milwaukee Bucks. Unfortunately, the team is dealing with many injuries with guys like Kyrie Irving and Dereck Lively II.

This will be another matchup where we see a couple of MVP candidates face off against each other. Luka Doncic and Giannis Antetokounmpo will be the focus of each team's defense.

Both of these MVP candidates have fluctuated in the NBA's MVP rankings. In particular, Luka Doncic has shamefully been dropping in the rankings despite his historic performances.

NBA's disrespect of Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic reaches all-time high

Luka Doncic is currently averaging 34.7 points and 9.6 assists per game, which rank 2nd and 3rd across the entire league. Despite these impressive totals which seem to be getting higher his MVP ranking isn't.

Exactly a week before these rankings came out, Luka Doncic made history as he scored 73 points, the fourth-most in an NBA game ever. This incredible feat alone should've made Luka's MVP case shoot through the roof, but it didn't.

National media had a very negative reaction to Doncic's historic performance, and I believe the MVP rankings reflect how media voters feel about Doncic and the Mavericks.

As the Dallas Mavericks slip to the 8th seed in the competitive Western Conference, a wave of injuries has dealt a significant blow to the team's performance. With crucial players sidelined, the urgency to bolster the roster is undeniable. As the NBA trade deadline looms just a week away, this presents a pivotal opportunity for the Mavericks to strengthen their depth and make strategic moves that could turn the tide in the remainder of the season.

Dallas' main focus seems to be upgrading at the power forward position, and they have been linked in trade rumors for Dorian Finney-Smith, Andrew Wiggins, and P.J. Washington.
