The Dallas Mavericks traded Kristaps Porzingis to the Washington Wizards at the trade deadline of the 2021-22 season for Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans.

Porzingis never seemed like the best fit in Dallas next to Luka Doncic, and the Mavs ended up making the Western Conference Finals later that season.

Porzingis also benefitted from the trade, as he set a career-high in points per game last season in Washington and was traded to the Boston Celtics this summer.

5-time NBA Champion roasts former Mavericks big man Kristaps Porzingis

Many Celtics fans are excited about their new big three of Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and Porzingis, but one former five-time NBA Champion seems to be telling those fans to pump the brakes when it comes to Porzingis.

"That guy there was a flop in Dallas."

Michael Cooper on Kristaps Porzingis

Michael Cooper was on his podcast "Showtime with Coop" and that's what he had to say regarding Porzingis. It is important to note that Cooper is known as an all-time Celtics hater, but he doesn't seem confident that Porzingis will move the needle for Boston.

This take may seem a little harsh from Cooper, as Porzingis averaged 20.0 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game while playing for the Mavericks, but this take isn't far off. Porzingis was a massive disappointment for the Mavs as he struggled to stay healthy, was an awful fit, and Doncic didn't seem to like him either.

The Mavericks gave up multiple first-round picks and players to get him and are still paying for it, as they still owe the Knicks a first-round pick. This trade was not ideal for Dallas, and they likely regret making that move for him.

It was all-around not a good fit, but maybe Porzingis can put the negative narrative surrounding his play to rest in Boston.

We'll have you covered with all the latest news and rumors surrounding the Mavs this summer, so stay tuned.
