Luka Doncic enters the 2024-25 season coming off the best season of his NBA career.

Doncic averaged 33.9 points, 9.2 rebounds, 9.8 assists, and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 48.7 percent from the field and 38.2 percent from downtown, and he took huge strides in his game. For most of the season, Doncic showed an improvement on the defensive end of the floor and his shooting was spectacular.

Doncic was unstoppable all season long, and he helped lead the Dallas Mavericks to their first NBA Finals appearance since 2011. Dallas ended up falling short to the Boston Celtics, but this roster is poised to compete for the Finals once again this season.

Dallas begins training camp in Las Vegas next week, and it is looking to be an "intense" couple of practices. Jason Kidd is planning for the Mavs to have multiple two-a-days for the team, but Doncic's ramp-up before the regular season has already begun.

Doncic training in Slovenia should ensure he starts season in shape

According to NBA insider Marc Stein of DLLS Mavs, Doncic has been practicing with Ilirija, a pro team in Slovenia. Doncic has been going through full practices with them, and him getting in this extra work is ensuring that he will be in shape before training camp.

Coming into the season out of shape is a trap that Doncic has fallen into in the past, and he'd be the first one to admit that. That doesn't look like that will be the case this season, and Doncic seems locked in on being ready for the 2024-25 season.

This season presents Doncic with his best shot yet at winning the NBA Finals and the NBA MVP due to his new-look supporting cast, and his game should take another jump. This summer gave Doncic plenty of time to nurse the couple of injuries that hindered his performance in the playoffs, and his intense offseason regimen in Slovenia could be game-changing for him ahead of camp.

If Doncic is at 100 percent when it comes to his injuries and he is indeed in great shape, the sky is the limit early on for this Mavs team. It may take a couple of games to get going due to the amount of new faces, but Doncic is the engine of this team.

Him being locked in and training hard before the season begins shows how dedicated he is to have another great season, and the Mavs should be in a great position to get off to a hot start. Starting strong is important to make sure they don't fall behind in the standings, and the Mavs will have a great shot at winning a bunch of games early.

Seven of Dallas' first nine games are at home, and a strong start here from Doncic and company could be a great sign for what's to come for the rest of the season.
