Dallas Mavericks hire Kristi Toliver as assistant coach

The Dallas Mavericks hired Jason Kidd to be their head coach next season after Rick Carlisle resigned following 13 seasons. The Hall of Fame point guard should help Luka Doncic improve and continue his historic pace. Now, the Mavs are looking to round out their staff.
Dallas has added Igor Kokoskov, Sean Sweeney, and Greg St. Jean as assistant coaches. God Shammgod and Peter Patton are returning in their player development roles. Darrell Armstrong will also be on Kidd’s coaching staff.

Toliver is an outstanding player. She is a three-time WNBA All-Star and two-time WNBA champion that is currently playing for LA Sparks. Toliver also won an NCAA Championship in 2006 and two EuroLeague crowns in her historic playing career.
The 34-year-old has coaching experience too. She spent two seasons on the Washington Wizards staff as an assistant coach. The 5’7 guard is no stranger to be the lead ball-handler on her team and is an outstanding shooter. She will be a massive addition to the Mavericks staff. The final addition could be J.J. Barea. He is expected to join the Mavericks next season, but his role has not been decided. The franchise legend loves coaching and would be a natural fit on Kidd’s staff. He could also take on a player development role in Dallas.
