The Dallas Mavericks are riding high on a six-game winning streak where their most recent win came at home against the San Antonio Spurs. After struggling throughout the first quarter, the team got things back on track, and they ended up dominating their in-state foe 116-93.

After nearly a three-week absence, the Mavericks welcomed back their rookie phenom right before the All-Star break. Against the Spurs, Dereck Lively II would dominate both ends of the floor and even recorded a game-high four blocks in the win.

Since returning from injury, Mavs fans have speculated what Lively II and newly acquired center Daniel Gafford would look like when both are healthy. Despite only playing one game together, it's clear that the squad is much stronger when both players are in the lineup. Gafford even went on the air to say how much he and Lively II are alike and how he could be a potential mentor for the 20-year-old.

With very little news coming out over the last few days, former Maverick JJ Redick broke the silence with his comments on ESPN's show "First Take" towards Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers about taking accountability for his actions.

"I've seen the trend for years. The trend is always making excuses. Doc, we get it. Taking over a team in the middle of a season is hard... it's always an excuse. It's always throwing your team under the bus... there's never accountability with that guy."

These comments were fired off by Redick after Rivers mentioned how hard taking over the Milwaukee head coaching job was during the middle of the season. The Bucks are 3-7 in their last ten games, and it's in large part due to the sudden coaching change halfway through the season.

Redick played under Rivers for multiple seasons, which is why fans have been so intrigued by these comments. Additionally, Redick only played half a season with the Mavericks before retiring, but while his time in Dallas was short, he will always be remembered for his mentorship of Luka Doncic.

The Mavericks' upcoming game will be today against their heated rival, the Phoenix Suns. This game has a lot of playoff implications riding on it, so it will be important the Mavs come out with energy from the opening tip-off. For more updates on Dallas Mavericks basketball, stay plugged in.
