Former All-Star lists NBA's top 10 point guards: Where do Mavs' Luka and Kyrie land?

Dallas Mavericks training camp begins today, and all eyes are on the star duo of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

Dallas traded for Irving at the trade deadline last season but struggled after making the deal and ended up missing the playoffs. This was the last thing that fans expected, as Dallas had one of the best offensive duos in the NBA, but the team's defense wasn't good enough to close out games.

Doncic and Irving also didn't get much time to play together, and never fully clicked.

Now the star guards have the chance to go through a full NBA season together and hopefully make a deep playoff run. Dallas added solid pieces around them, and Dallas could have enough firepower to contend in the Western Conference.

Everyone knows what Doncic and Irving bring, it just depends on how everyone around them plays. That's why 1-time NBA All-Star and 1-time NBA Champion Jeff Teague listed them both on his top 10 point guards in the NBA list.

Teague's No. 1 point guard in the NBA was Stephen Curry, but right below him was Doncic at No. 2.

Teague praised his ability to play at his own pace, score effortlessly, and called him "the most talented on the list."

Irving landed on the list in a great position at No. 5.

Irving has actually become underrated over the last few years, and Teague giving him the praise he deserves was great to see. Teague said that "guarding Kyrie was a nightmare," and he is "the most creative player in the league."

Kyrie has one of the deepest bags in the NBA, and his ability to get to his spots is second to none. He is widely known as one of the most skilled players ever, and Teague said, "my ankles are still suffering from playing against him," referring to Kyrie's elite handle.

Having both Kyrie and Luka in the top 10 point guards in the NBA is not something that everyone would agree with (since Kyrie has become a bit underrated), but Teague has played against both players and has great credibility. He was elite defensively while in the NBA, and he knows how offensively gifted both Doncic and Irving are.
