Jason Kidd’s assistants will need to help the Dallas Mavericks role players flourish
There will be players that Kidd may not connect with, but that does not preclude them from being successful with the Mavs. His staff must step up and work with those players. Dallas has talent and several players that have not reached their peak yet. Can Kidd and his staff get them to take another step forward this season?
The Hall of Famer has brought in a new staff. Sean Sweeney and Igor Kokoskov figure to be Kidd’s two top assistants. The Mavericks also added Greg St. Jean, Kristi Tolliver, and Jared Dudley to the coaching staff. The hierarchy is still being determined, but each will play a key role in helping the Mavs this season.
Dudley was a role player in the NBA for 14 seasons, so he should be one that can connect with those talents. His veteran presence and leadership could become massive in the team's locker room.
Relationships are a key part of coaching, and Kidd struggled in that area in the past. Can his assistants help smooth things over, so the Mavericks are getting the most out of every player? It is an important storyline to follow this season as Dallas looks to contend in the loaded Western Conference.
