Will the Dallas Mavericks select Jaden Hardy in the 2022 NBA Draft?

Hardy is a high floor, low ceiling player. If his decision-making and defense do not improve, the 6’4 guard will struggle to play a role in the NBA. Hardy could also make the leap into a scoring guard that can knock down shots from anywhere on the floor and is not hunted on the defensive end of the floor. He has plenty of potential, but he needs to land in the right system to realize it.

Jaden Hardy is unlikely to make it all the way to 26th overall. Some team will jump on his potential in the late teens or early 20s. Just one year ago, he was projected to be a top-five draft pick. Sliding to 26th would be quite surprising.

The Dallas Mavericks will either trade the pick or select someone that will be ready to play a role quickly in the NBA. They want to win now after reaching the conference finals. Getting another quality rotation player out of this selection should be the goal for general manager and president of basketball operations Nico Harrison.
