The Dallas Mavericks have the No. 10 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft on Thursday, but we could see them picking somewhere else instead based on what one NBA insider recently said.

"Yeah, they're going to trade it [the 10th pick]," Jake Fischer of Yahoo! Sports said on the 'Inside the Mavs' podcast. "If Dallas is picking at 10, I will be absolutely floored."

The Mavericks have some needs, just like every other team in the league. However, they could better fix those needs by trading the pick and getting something NBA-ready now in return.

One of the rumors that has been floated around out there is trading the No. 10 pick to Atlanta for John Collins, which is a move many fans would be on board for. Collins is NBA-ready, seeing that he has already played several years in the league. He can be a vital piece to help the Mavericks contend for the playoffs again.

In many cases, for the Mavericks, making a trade like that would be much better than taking a guy who can't help them a ton right now. Even though the Mavericks are picking at No. 10, they are a team who is in win-now mode. But that doesn't necessarily mean they would trade the pick for a player. There are several different things they could do.

"I don't know if it's just gonna be for a straight, you know, 'we're trading 10 for this player.' If they're moving down, if there's a little other shuffling with it," Fischer said. "But they're going to trade this pick. I think there's just so much opportunity for movement, and they're in a pretty prime position in order to get something of value back... Whether it is something like that Atlanta thing or something with Utah, what have you? I would take it to the bank that Dallas is going to move this selection."

On Thursday, we will see if Fischer is right. If the Mavericks do trade the pick, we could see a key piece that will help right now instead of a guy that will take some time to develop. Or, we could see the Mavericks trade back and still have a good enough pick to take a guy like Dereck Lively.

The Mavericks have so many options they could choose on Thursday. But, from what it sounds like, they will not be picking at No. 10.
