Coming off of last night's loss to the Boston Celtics, many Dallas Mavericks fans seem concerned about the performance of the team as of late.

Boston is arguably the best team in the league, but Dallas didn't look great in the final three quarters of that game. They lacked energy, and their defense was not good.

Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum combined for 73 points, and neither player turned over the ball. No one could stop this star duo, and the time for Dallas to trade for some frontcourt help could be now, especially after the Kyle Lowry for Terry Rozier trade.

On Tuesday morning, the Miami Heat traded Lowry and a first-round pick to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Rozier. The Hornets are believed to be an active team at the trade deadline, and the Rozier trade could be the perfect lead-in for the Mavs to make a deal for one of their young players.

Dallas has reportedly shown interest in Hornets forward P.J. Washington and now could be the perfect time to get Charlotte on the phone and make a deal for him. He is also happening to be having a down year, potentially leading to the Mavs getting him for a cheaper deal.

This season for the Hornets, Washington is averaging 12.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game. Washington is a true power forward, and he fits the description of the type of player that Mark Cuban wants.

Washington would immediately start as the four in Dallas, and his all-around offensive game combined with his underrated versatility on defense would make him a core piece of this team. He would be getting the most open shots of his career playing next to Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, and playing for a playoff team could help take his stats and level of play to the next level.
