Grading 10 Dallas Mavericks trade deadline targets from no-brainer to must-avoid
By Noah Weber
8. No-brainer: P.J. Washington
A fan-favorite trade target for Dallas Mavericks fans this season has been P.J. Washington of the Charlotte Hornets. Dallas has been linked to Washington for multiple weeks now, and it's clear that the Mavs making a trade for him is a no-brainer.
This season for the Hornets, Washington is averaging 13.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game while shooting 45.2 percent from the field and 33.1 percent from downtown. Washington would beautifully strengthen Dallas' weakness at the power forward spot, but it would likely come at the cost of one of their young players.
According to a recent report, the Hornets would be interested in landing Josh Green if the trade talks centered around Washington with Dallas go anywhere. Green is known for his inconsistency, but his play as of late may be enough of a reason for Dallas to hold onto him.
Green is having arguably the best stretch of his career right now, as he has scored a total of 58 points over the last few games. He is playing like the player that Dallas needs him to be, but could this hot streak end soon and he goes back to being a hit-or-miss type of player every night?
That is definitely a possibility, and that could lead the Mavs to throw him into a trade that involves Washington.
