Dallas Mavericks give revealing injury update on guard Dante Exum
By Noah Weber
The Dallas Mavericks lost their last game to the Indiana Pacers on Sunday afternoon, but have a chance to bounce back on the road once again against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Every game matters at this point in the season, and the Mavs are finally almost healthy.
Health has been the Mavs' kryptonite this season, as almost every role player on the roster has missed time.
Dallas Mavericks give revealing injury update on guard Dante Exum
In particular, Dante Exum is someone who has missed significant time, but his return could be soon. Exum was upgraded to doubtful for Tuesday night's game against the Cavs, and although it doesn't look like he will play tonight, him being doubtful is a positive.
Exum hasn't played since January 26 due to knee bursitis, and it sounds like he is ramping up his activity to possibly return on this road trip or this weekend at home. He has been crucial for Dallas this season, and him staying healthy down the stretch will be massive for the Mavs' hopeful playoff run.
This season for Dallas, Exum is averaging 9.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 0.6 steals per game while shooting 47.7 percent from three. Exum has been excellent for Dallas as both a starter and coming off the bench, and he is someone that they need back.
Dallas lacks a guard who can lead the second unit when both Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving are on the bench, and Exum will likely retake that role. It will be important that he returns to playing with confidence and assertiveness, as that is when he is at his best.
The Mavs typically keep their cards very close to their chests when it comes to injuries, but it's good news that Exum is now doubtful on the injury report. It could only be a matter of time before he is on the floor once again.
For all the latest on Dante Exum and the Dallas Mavericks this season, stay tuned.
