1. Christian Wood

Wood is arguably the best free agent remaining on the market. His numbers had Mavericks fans screaming for head coach Jason Kidd to play him more, but the 6’10 forward had plenty of defensive struggles. Still, Wood averaged 16.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in 25.9 minutes per game during his lone season in Dallas.

The Mavericks made it clear that he would not return for a second season, but it has been shocking that no team has taken a chance on him. Wood is coming off a three-year $41 million contract, and Dallas traded a first-round pick for him and a few open roster spots just one year ago. To see C-Wood go from a valued rotation piece to searching for a minimum contract with a guaranteed role has been surprising.

There is interest in Wood, but he will likely have to take a minimum contract and try to rebuild his value. The Lakers have been the team most linked to the 27-year-old. They could use him as a bucket-getter off the bench and to provide some offensive punch when LeBron and Anthony Davis miss time.

Will these three former Dallas Mavericks sign before the start of training camp? It is something to watch as the movement slows down and things get quiet. Fans should stay tuned for all the latest.
