The Dallas Mavericks officially signed point guard Facundo Campazzo to a one-year veteran minimum deal to fill their 15th and final roster spot. The 31-year-old spent the last two seasons with the Denver Nuggets after having a ton of success in Europe. Campazzo started in the backcourt next to Luka Doncic as Real Madrid won EuroLeague and Liga ACB titles in 2018.
His stint with the Nuggets did not go as planned. The undersized point guard struggled to find a consistent role, and he averaged just 5.6 points, 3.5 assists, and 1.1 steals in 20.1 minutes per game over his first two NBA seasons. Campazzo wants to improve those numbers, but his size and athletic ability limit his defensive potential.
He is an incredible and creative passer. Campazzo drops must-see dimes nearly every time he takes the court, and Mavs fans will be amazed by his passing ability.
New Dallas Mavericks guard Facundo Campazzo will wow fans with his passing ability
Campazzo has his limitations, and fans should not expect him to play massive minutes this season, but he will throw some highlight-reel passes when he gets on the court. Here is a look at some of his best plays from last season.
Campazzo believes he can make every pass, and the 5’10 point guard loves to put some flare into it. There will be highlights and times when fans are left shaking their heads at what they just saw.
Campazzo’s jumper will be the key to his playing time with the Mavericks. He made just 32.8 percent from 3-point range with the Nuggets, and it was just over 35 percent on catch-and-shoot triples. Dallas will need the 31-year-old to space the floor if he wants to play next to Luka. His shooting percentage was better in Europe, but he was inconsistent. Can Campazzo get closer to the league average from 3-point range this season?
Facundo Campazzo will put on a show with his passing ability, and that alone should have fans excited about the signing. Do not expect too much, but the veteran point guard will throw some incredible dimes this season that will have everyone cheering. Do not miss it.
