3 Most disastrous outcomes for Mavericks this upcoming season
By Jack Simone
This offseason was crucial for the Dallas Mavericks, as they needed to make a serious push forward in order to atone for their failures from this past season.
After making a run to the Western Conference finals in 2022, the Mavericks took a massive step back. They failed to even qualify for the Play-In Tournament, missing out on the postseason entirely.
And to make matters worse, the Mavericks suffered this failure after making a massive, franchise-altering move at the trade deadline, acquiring Kyrie Irving from the Brooklyn Nets.
So, heading into the summer, the Mavericks needed to find ways to bounce back, as they cannot afford to have another season with Luka Doncic at the helm where they miss the playoffs.
3 Most disastrous outcomes for Mavericks this upcoming season
Luckily for Doncic and Dallas fans everywhere, the Mavericks had a great summer of moves.
They traded for Grant Williams and Richaun Holmes, drafted Dereck Lively II and Olivier-Maxence Prosper, and signed Seth Curry and Dante Exum in free agency.
By all accounts, all of these moves made the Mavericks better, especially combined with the fact that they also re-signed Irving to a three-year contract (and brought back Dwight Powell, though that seems a bit less significant).
Now, the Mavericks roster is revamped and ready to make a real run at the playoffs (and hopefully more) next season. But what if that doesn’t happen?
What if Dallas succumbs to the same fate that they were hit with last season? Or worse?
Let’s take a look at the three most disastrous outcomes for the Mavericks next season.
