The Dallas Mavericks' chance for redemption begins in less than two months.

Dallas ended up falling way short in the 2024 NBA Finals to the Boston Celtics, and Mavs fans can't wait for the team's chance to return to the hardwood once again at the end of October.

They are among the favorites to win the Western Conference once again, and their excellent offseason makes them one of the most feared contenders in the league. While there is plenty of excitement surrounding this team heading into the new season, there are also some big questions that must be answered.

Some of these questions include who will start at center and will Klay Thompson's defense be good enough, but a different question is on Mavs fans' minds as well.

Dante Exum is in danger of losing his spot in Mavericks' rotation

Who will get left out of the rotation between Dante Exum, Jaden Hardy, and Spencer Dinwiddie?

There was tons of excitement surrounding the Dinwiddie signing earlier this offseason, but Mavs fans seem like they are all out on Exum, someone who provided tons of value last season.

When asked "which of these three guards will play the most minutes next season for the Dallas Mavericks," Mavs fans voted for Dinwiddie first, Hardy second, and Exum third. Despite having a great season last year that included a dominant run as a starter, Mavs fans seem out on Dante Exum ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Last season for Dallas, Exum averaged 7.8 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game while shooting 49.1 percent from downtown. Exum's performance in the regular season was outstanding, and he became one of the most consistent players off the bench.

Exum turned into someone who Jason Kidd could always count on late in the game, and his 3-point shooting, composure as a ball handler, and defense quickly turned him into a fan favorite.

Exum's regular season made him one of the biggest X-factors going into the postseason, but to everyone's surprise, his production took a nosedive in the playoffs.

Exum seemed to have no confidence, and Kidd couldn't consistently rely on him for production off the bench. This caused him to look to Hardy for production, and he came alive in the Western Conference Finals.

Dallas' logjam of guards off the bench is bigger than anyone realizes, and there isn't much of an avenue to ensure that Exum, Hardy, and Dinwiddie all have significant roles. One of these players will end up being the odd man out, and Mavs fans seem to think that player will be Exum.

The fans could end up being completely wrong about Exum and he could end up playing a huge role early on, but either Hardy, Exum, or Dinwiddie is going to end up having a smaller role than anyone expects. All players are good enough to be playing real minutes for Dallas, but there aren't enough minutes to go around to everyone.

Exum is going to have every chance to prove everyone wrong, and him returning to the player that he was just a season ago would be huge for Dallas.
