4. 10th pick in the 2023 NBA Draft gets traded with Tim Hardaway Jr.

The Mavs need more talent, and the pressure to build a contender around Luka Doncic is immediate. It will push general manager Nico Harrison and the front office to trade the tenth overall pick for an upgrade, and Dallas will be looking to keep their luxury tax bill down by matching salaries, which makes Hardaway Jr. the most likely trade option.

THJ has two years and $34.1 million remaining on his contract. The 6’5 wing has been a key shot-maker for the Mavericks, but they made their run to the conference finals without him. Hardaway Jr. suffered a foot injury in January and missed the remainder of the 2021-22 season. Dallas has shopped him multiple times, and they finally find a deal for the tenth overall pick that sense.

The Mavs only have eight players under contract heading into the offseason, but they bring back Dwight Powell and Theo Pinson this summer. Dallas has plenty of work to do in free agency after making this deal, but they add a key piece to their roster at the cost of tenth pick, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Maxi Kleber.

Trading Tim Hardaway Jr. further depletes the Dallas Mavericks' wing depth, and that becomes a massive issue next season.
