Dallas Mavericks face a total rebuild if chances turn into busts

The Mavs have to upgrade their defense, rebounding, rim protection, and depth this summer. It must happen if the team plans on getting back to the playoffs and making a run next season. 3-and-D wings are a highly sought-after commodity and will be expensive on the trade market. Dallas will likely have to gamble on lesser names and hope they can make a larger impact playing next to Luka Doncic in Dallas.

The Mavericks need at least two new starters. They thought they acquired a new starting center last offseason, but JaVale McGee did not fit. The franchise cannot afford another miss like that much less two.

If Kyrie Irving departs in free agency and/or the Mavs do not upgrade their roster, Luka’s frustration will rise. Will it be enough to demand a trade? The Mavs certainly do not want to find out.

Riskier moves have greater bust potential. The Dallas Mavericks hired Dennis Lindsey to give them a veteran voice in the front office, and fans can bet he will try to help them find the right moves. Just know that if they are not, that could be the final straw for number 77.
