The Dallas Mavericks have been crowned Western Conference Champions after their Game 5 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves, and await their finals matchup against the Boston Celtics.

The Mavericks have found a solid group of guys that can get it done on both sides of the floor. During this playoff run we've seen the Mavs' role players find confidence and comfortability in their game.

With NBA free agency approaching next month, trade and free agent rumors will bounce around the internet. There have already been rumors swirling about some big names in the league, like Paul George and Jimmy Butler.

Dallas Mavericks among betting favorites to sign Klay Thompson

Even though the Mavericks are in the NBA Finals, there are still ways people think this team can get better. A recent article reported that the Mavericks had the third-best betting odds to sign Klay Thompson this summer according to Odds Shark.

It's clear Thompson had a down year and is on the back end of his career. Nonetheless, Klay Thompson is one of the best shooters ever and can still be serviceable on the defensive end; depending on how Thompson looks physically and the type of contract, this would be a good move for the Mavs.

The chances are still unlikely, but the Mavs have done an amazing job building the team around Luka Doncic and trusting their development in young guys, as we see in the contributions of Jaden Hardy and Josh Green.

Even if the Mavericks secure their ultimate goal of winning a championship, the NBA is ever-evolving, and teams get better every day. Once the season ends, the Mavs will re-evaluate and make the right roster-building decisions going forward.

A move for Thompson would likely have to be a sign and trade, and the Mavs were a rumored suitor of Thompson earlier in this playoff run. He would provide Doncic and Kyrie Irving with one of the greatest floor spacers ever, but the price has to be right.

Before thinking about free agency, the Mavericks are only four games away from a championship. For more on the Dallas Mavericks and any offseason moves, stay tuned.
